Welcome to Nenana City School District

Nenana City School District is located in Nenana, Alaska. We are 55 miles South of Fairbanks and 300 miles North of Anchorage. We are just off the Parks Highway. Our district serves 250 K-12 students and 400 correspondence students though the CyberLynx program. We host the Nenana Living Center and the statewide correspondence program, CyberLynx, with offices in three communities: Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Wasilla, Alaska.

The Nenana Living Center is home to up to 88 students who come from all over Alaska to attend Nenana City School. Please see the Nenana Living Center and CyberLynx pages on this site for more information on these programs. Nenana is also home to the Nenana Ice Classic.

What Our Students Think

Pride. That's one thing we value in our students and facilities. We have a unique town, along with equally unique people. We serve Kindergarten through 12th grade and have over two hundred students in a culturally diverse atmosphere that includes Yupik, Athabascan, Tlingit, and Caucasian. Our students hail from Kodiak Island to Barrow, Nome to Eagle.

The majority of these widespread students live at the Nenana Living Center. To accommodate these many diverse students, we have various sports and activities, including track, skiing, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, cross country skiing, soccer, and drama club. These activities are spread throughout the year, so there is always something to do. Also, our music program boasts one of only two marching bands in Alaska!

The town of Nenana was created in the early 20th century as an Athabascan village. Early on, the school was a missionary boarding institute, teaching the few students of the community. Later on, in the early 1980's our school was made larger with the addition of a new high school wing.
